Craig Green was born in London in 1986. He came from a family of workers - his dad was a plumber, mother a nurse, and other family members carpenters and upholsterers. As the first member of his family to attend college, his initial instinct was to study art in some form as he was always surrounded by people who physically made things. Green was recommended by a friend to attend Central Saint-Martins college as the school was known for educating talented designers like Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Stella McCartney and many others. He found himself drawn to the community and energy around the fashion courses, and although he had no prior interest in or knowledge of fashion, he decided to pursue fashion prints for his BA at CSM.

Throughout his schooling, he felt very much out of place - unable to relate much to the floral and femme fashion aesthetic of that time. It wasn't until he did placements with experimental designers, Walter Van Beirendonck and Henrik Vibskov that he understood fashion could be about anything and inspiration could be drawn from anywhere. Green shifted his focus to menswear, something more relatable for him, and drew inspiration from the workwear/uniform aesthetic he was surrounded by growing up with his family.

He went on to study under Professor Louise Wilson, with a full ride scholarship, to pursue his MA. Shortly after graduating,  he started his namesake brand in 2012. Green's designs remain true to the workwear/uniform aesthetic. He sees simplicity and beauty in both the construction and purpose of these garments, the complete democracy they bring. Relating them back to school uniforms, he remembered no-uniform days feeling divisive, students judging others on how cool or expensive their clothes were, seeing the varying levels of rich vs. poor kids, whereas uniforms made everyone equal.

Today, Green is known to be one of the most important designers working in London and has made a name for himself through the ever-evolving, unique design concepts for traditional workwear. One of his most prestigious honors is being a guest designer opening Pitti Uomo, one of the most important showcases for men's fashion in the world.
